SEO Code of Ethics: Boost Your Visibility the Right Way

Keyphrase.co, staff and associates voluntarily adhere to the following SEO Code of Ethics:

SEO Code of Ethics

We will not intentionally do harm to any client by utilizing methods or technologies that are known to jeopardise a site by having it removed from the search engine indexes or rendered inoperative.

We will not make use of any practices which intentionally violate the rules of the search engines. When these rules are changed, we will swiftly implement any changes required in order to keep our client sites legal. If we are unsure of any rules, we will make certain of all the required facts before making any possibly damaging changes to the client site.

We will ensure that no site will use information that can be construed as offensive or intentionally misleading to consumers.

We will strictly adhere to any legality that will have bearing on the work we do on or relating to client sites including but not limited to copyright, trademark and spamming laws at local, national or international level.

We will not falsely represent the content of a client site except in cases where specific needs are required by the browser (such as but not limited to regional factors, language preferences, etc.). A request for a specific URL should always bring up the same webpage.

We will not be guilty of plagiarizing either by falsely claiming work from others as our own, or by copying-and-pasting information from other sites or in any way using others’ work verbatim without their explicit consent.

We will not misrepresent ourselves, our training and experience, our company’s performance history, resources, or client base in any way.

We will not set our client’s expectations unreasonably high by making guarantees that are outside of our reasonable sphere of influence, or by implying or stating explicitly that positive results can be achieved within an unrealistic time frame, or by making any other false claims or promises.

We will avoid situations where we are involved in a conflict of interests between clients where we may be in a position where promoting one client over another could result in personal gain. On the rare occasion that we do take on clients who are competing for the same keywords we will not falsely make blanket promises to them regarding the positions we aim to achieve for them on the search engine results pages, but will discuss each client site and venture on its own merit.

We Do Not Use

Some search engine optimization companies and software developers use unethical tricks and techniques to artificially boost the search engine rankings of a web site.

This dilutes the quality of search results and the accuracy of search results becomes questionable. For this reason, the search engines are continuously trying to trace out the spam techniques which webmasters might be using and penalize or ban them.

They continue to reconstruct their algorithms to prevent spammers from flooding the results page with irrelevant or low quality content. If you use a web site promotion tool that uses these unethical tricks and techniques, you’ll put your web business at severe risk,

You might get short term results with these techniques but it’s very likely that your site will be banned from search engines if you use one of these techniques. You’ll put your web business at severe risk if you use one of these methods.

We will treat all clients equally, and in order to give each client sufficient time and energy, we will refrain from taking on an unreasonable number of clients at any one time.

We will at all times do everything within our power and within the parameters of the law and the search engines’ rules to fulfill our mandate to improve and retain the client placement/rankings on the search engine results pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

SEO is the process of optimizing your site for increased visibility and later for more traffic. This is done by increasing the ranking of the web page of your business on the search engine results page. If you do not make any effort through SEO, your competitors will appear above you in searches related to your products. The goal of SEO is to bring more visitors to your site so that you can get maximum profits.

Building a website does not mean that you will automatically appear on the first page of Google results. There are a number of steps to take in the first page. The keywords you target, sites that link to your page (both quality and quantity), and whether Google sees your site as quality and authoritative, are all sophisticated in your site’s ranking in Google and other search engine results. When your site is optimized for SEO purposes, you have a much better chance of appearing in search results. SEO, or search engine optimization, includes both technical and content-targeted strategies designed to improve a site’s ranking in Google, increase traffic to the organic site and its revenue potential.

Results can vary depending on a number of factors such as how fast (or slow) the site takes to fully load, your site size and current domain authority, the amount and quality of content you create and how it reaches your target audience and the specific difficulty of the keywords you want to rank. In general light competitive keywords usually take about 1-3 months to rank, medium around 6 months, and tough keywords can take up to a year or more in most cases. Plus, a brand new site takes a little longer to display results than an existing site. These are all general and case-by-case examples. SEO takes time, but when done right, it will make an impact and ultimately increase your organic traffic and return on investment.

Link building is an SEO strategy that involves setting up other sites to link to a page on your website. Link building is important because the more quality links you have to your site, the more authority your site builds, and ultimately the higher the results and rankings of your site. Building links makes your site look more reliable to search engines. However, there is simply no need for quantities of links to your site, but rather quality. Google is smart, and if they see that your site is linked to a lot of “junk” sites, you can be penalized.

Pricing depends on the exact types of services needed, the existing competition in the market and your specific marketing goals. Our SEO strategies vary from business to business and are tailored to your unique goals. The custom plan we will develop and what you will be agreeing with are the factors that will determine the total cost.
Customized strategies we provide contain home remodeling or home improvement SEO services that take all shapes, and include initiatives — large and small. Let’s start with a free website audit, then we can develop a plan together that will produce results while meeting your budget requirements.

Meta descriptions are small text splits that describe the content of pages that appear in your search results. It was necessary for crawlers to learn about the content of your page, but things have changed lately. Now, they are more helpful for the user to know what your page is about, forcing it to click, so they are still an important factor in your website promotion strategy because metadata can directly affect click optimization and conversion rate.

There is no exact number of keywords you are supposed to use on each page. In fact, forcing too many keywords per page (keyword filling) can actually be penalized by search engines. Just make sure the content you share is relevant and user-friendly, and you will find plenty of opportunities to use your keywords in a way that does not seem forced or unnatural.

Internal links are links on your site. This means that a user will click on a link on one page of your site, and he will redirect them to a page on another page of your site. Inbound links are links that take the user to another site.

Again, there is no magic number of links that a web page should have. Plus, having too many links, just like having too many keywords, can appear as spam and can be penalized by search engines. Think of the user, and add links only when they have value for it.

Robots.txt is a page used by search engines to obtain important information about the pages the site wants to crawl. If you want to test the robots.txt page of a site, just type in its domain followed by /robots.txt.

You want your photos to appear in searches, right? Search engines cannot see images physically, so they rely on your alt text to tell them what the images are. Alt text is also useful if your site page is not loaded, allowing users to read what the image refers to regardless.
